Default GW2 - Plans for Rollback or Restoration?

Hey all,

I just recently posted here about my account being hacked and I just got a reply to my customer service survey after NCSoft had returned my account to me. I was surprised to have even gotten a reply, though it may have been due to a rather scathing review I gave them:

Quote:
While we are able to reimburse some items in our other games, Guild Wars was not programmed with reimbursement or restoration in mind. Please be assured that restoration tools are in the plans for Guild Wars 2, but Guild Wars has no such tools. We are not refusing to roll back your account.

Can anyone confirm whether we'll be seeing rollbacks in GW2?

It's been known for a long time that things can't be restored in GW1. That's not news at all.

Nice, but I wasn't announcing that GW1 doesn't have rollback...

It may not even refer to rollback - anet describes it as restoration tool and to me that implies a program that can check logs for transactions via account/ip rather than roll everything bk.

Anet probably never had the funding or code at the time of gw to search for transactions and most probably this is going to be done for gw2.
Rollbacks are a big major last resort - everyone loses sadly.

How does everyone lose in a rollback? Are you talking about a serverwide rollback, or account rollback? Or is a restoration indistinguishable from an account rollback?

Well, you just posted some message about how stuff can't be restored in GW1 with "can anyone confirm or deny?"

No one can say for sure about GW2 yet, because they haven't told us anything of the sort yet.

No, you misread. My statement that stuff cannot be rolled back in GW1 was just a statement of fact, a premise if you will, for my question as stated both in the title and in the body. It helps to read a little more carefully, you know.
